Though wars may be raging around you and your world battered by storms when the wind is howling and your boat is pitching upon the waves of adversity there is one instruction from the mouth of The Lord and that is to “be still and know I AM”
What does it mean to be still?
It means we don’t move, we stand resolute because we know the one who fights on our behalf. In Ephesians 6:13 we are told that “after we’ve done everything to simply stand”
We know that He who has begun this glorious work in our lives promises to finish it. God always finishes well. He doesn’t do things in half measures. Our God is the God of fullness. He is faithful.
Being still also means to be free from disturbance, agitation and commotion.
There is a place that we can run to where all of those things cannot reach us. When we shelter in the shadow of the most high we are out of reach of that adversity.
Does the storm cease its activity? No, but we can find shelter and a place of rest until it does.
A few weeks ago I heard the Lord saying to me that He wanted to show me the magnitude of the power of the secret place. It’s not just a place to go for rest or strategy but it is that place we can run to for safekeeping. It is in that place of stillness that we hear the voice of God affirming and encouraging us. I had a real sense of peace and knew in my spirit that nothing in the natural could get to me there.
So if you’re feeling overwhelmed by the storms of life don’t try to fix it on your own. Run to the Father, to the I AM, climb upon His lap, allow Him to wrap you in the safety of His very being until the rain stops, the wind ceases and the sun comes out again.
Remember storms don’t last forever and the waves and the wind still obey His voice!
